HALLWAY

A hallway is the smallest room in most homes and the one that gets the least thought. What ends up in it is usually plastic, usually bought in a hurry, and usually the first thing a visitor sees. This collection is drawn for that room specifically: hallway furniture that does the work without announcing it.

This is entryway furniture made for a hall that is shorter on depth than it is on width. Entryway shoe storage in wood and in steel, from a curved shoe rack low enough to slide under a console to a narrow metal one that fits where a tiered rack will not. A shoe bench, for the moment you actually need to sit down. Coat hooks and hangers with a shelf above them, for keys and the things that never have anywhere to go. Slim wall shelves at eye level. Plant stands, because a hall with something growing in it stops feeling like a corridor. A mirror by the door, for the last look before you leave.

The wooden pieces are Baltic birch plywood finished in real walnut, oak, ash, cherry or wenge veneer, so the fine layered edge shows alongside the grain running across the face. The metal ones are single welded frames in matte black steel. Several come from our Cavallo line, where each piece is bent into one continuous curve. Some stand on the floor, some go on the wall, and none of them ask for more room than an entryway can give.
