Wooden Accessories Care Guide: Maintaining the Beauty of Your Ewart Woods Products
Caring for your
For Wooden Items:
Mostly we use birch plywood and ash hardwood in crafting our products.Ā
-
Cleaning: Dust wooden items regularly with a soft, dry cloth to prevent dirt buildup. For the toilet paper holder and floating shelves, use a slightly damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the wood's surface.
-
Maintenance: Wooden items varnished with high-quality varnish not only boast better quality but also have a protective layer against moisture and wear. However, it's crucial to keep them away from direct sunlight and significant temperature changes to prevent warping or fading.
-
Minor Repairs: Small scratches or nicks can often be touched up with a bit of furniture wax or a color-matched wood marker. For veneer pieces, be gentle, as the thin wood layer can be more sensitive to pressure and damage.
Ā
For Metal Items:
Our metal shelves and other metal items like eyeglasses holders, kitchen utensil holders, phone holders, bowls etc are powder coated. Shelves which are made in rusted technique are varnished.Ā
-
Cleaning: Clean metal shelves with a damp cloth and, if necessary, a mild detergent. Rinse with a clean, dry cloth to prevent water spots. Avoid using acidic or abrasive cleaning agents, as they can tarnish or scratch the metal surface.
-
Rust Prevention: Although Ewart Woods' metal shelves are designed for durability, maintaining a dry environment is essential to prevent rust. If you notice any signs of rust, gently sand the area and apply a metal paint or sealant as a protective layer. (This can be applied to the non rusted shelves)
For Combined Wood and Metal Items:
Knife Holders, Knife BlocksĀ & Phone Holders:
General Care: For items combining wood and metal, such asĀ knife blocks and phone holders, follow the wood care guidance for the wooden parts and the metal care tips for the metallic components.
Avoid Water Exposure: Keep combined materials dry and clean them with a slightly damp cloth when necessary. Water can cause wood to swell and metal to rust, so it's best to avoid leaving these items in moist environments.
Protective Measures: Use coasters under drinks and place felt pads under items that may scratch the surface to keep both the wood and metal parts in pristine condition.
By adhering to these care guidelines, you can ensure that your Ewart Woods products, whether made of wood, metal, or a combination of both, will continue to enhance your home with their natural beauty and craftsmanship. Regular maintenance not only preserves their look but also their longevity, making your investment in quality home accessories truly worthwhile.
