Frequently asked questions
What age is a Pikler triangle suitable for?
Our Pikler triangles are designed for children from approximately 6 months to 6 years old. Babies from 6 months use the lowest rungs to pull themselves to standing. By 12–18 months most children can climb the full triangle. The 3-in-1 sets with ramp and arch grow with the child, adapting to each developmental stage.
How much weight can a Pikler triangle hold?
Our birch plywood Pikler triangle climbing frames hold up to 60 kg (132 lbs). This allows supervised use by one adult alongside a young child. Always supervise children during play and check all bolts and connections before each use session. Never allow multiple children to climb simultaneously.
Are wooden climbing frames safe for toddlers?
Yes — all our wooden climbing frames use natural birch plywood with smooth, rounded edges and water-based child-safe paint. There are no sharp corners or exposed screw heads. Products are tested to European toy safety standard EN 71. Always supervise children under 3 during climbing and place the frame on a non-slip mat or carpet.
Is a Pikler triangle the same as a Montessori climbing triangle?
Yes — a Pikler triangle and a Montessori climbing triangle refer to the same type of toy. The Pikler triangle was designed by Hungarian paediatrician Dr. Emmi Pikler, whose philosophy aligns closely with Montessori principles of free movement and independent development. The terms are used interchangeably by most parents and retailers.
What is the difference between a Pikler triangle and a multifunctional play set?
A standard Pikler triangle is a single climbing frame. Our multifunctional sets combine the triangle with additional components — a ramp, slide, arch, swing bar or playhouse theme. These sets offer more play configurations and adapt to more developmental stages. They are larger and require more floor space but provide greater play value over a longer age range.
Can wooden balance beams be used outdoors?
Our wooden balance beams and stepping stones are designed primarily for indoor use. Natural birch plywood performs best indoors and in dry covered areas. Prolonged exposure to rain and direct sunlight will shorten the product's life. For occasional supervised outdoor use on a dry day, the products are fine, but we recommend storing them inside.
Do you ship kids furniture and Montessori toys to the US?
Yes — we ship worldwide from Latvia, Europe. Delivery to the US typically takes 7–14 business days. Larger play sets arrive flat-packed with illustrated assembly instructions. A screwdriver and the included wrench are the only tools needed.
