Floating Nightstand Set of 2: Beside the Bed or Stacked?
A floating nightstand set of 2 can mean a matching pair, with one piece on each side of the bed, or two different-sized pieces arranged vertically on one side. The EWART WOODS two-piece box set is designed for the second arrangement: a slim compartment above a taller one. If you want matching nightstands on both sides, two individual Small nightstands or a Brass Collection pair are the options to consider.
The choice comes down to who uses the bed, how much storage they need and the space available beside it.

One on Each Side or Two on One Wall?
One nightstand on each side gives two people their own bedside surface. Each person can reach a phone, switch off a lamp or put down a glass without reaching across the bed. It is a practical arrangement for a shared bedroom, especially when both sides have similar clearance.
A stacked arrangement serves a different purpose. The lower nightstand holds the things you reach for from bed, while the upper compartment gives books and other belongings a separate place. You gain storage without making the arrangement wider than a single nightstand.
This can work well beside a bed pushed against a wall or in a room where a wardrobe leaves only one usable bedside area. It also suits someone who keeps several books beside the bed and wants the main surface clear.
For a stacked arrangement on both sides of a double bed, you need two two-piece sets: four pieces altogether.
What Comes in the EWART WOODS Set?
The EWART WOODS Floating Nightstand Set of 2 contains two compartments with the same width and depth, but different heights:
| Piece | Dimensions: width × depth × height |
|---|---|
| Smaller nightstand | 52.5 × 34 × 12 cm / 20.7 × 13.4 × 4.7 in |
| Larger nightstand | 52.5 × 34 × 24 cm / 20.7 × 13.4 × 9.4 in |

Each piece supports up to 10 kg when installed correctly with suitable wall fixings. That limit applies to each nightstand individually. Our floating shelf and nightstand weight capacity guide explains the load limits across different designs.
The set comes in ash, oak, walnut, cherry and wenge veneers, with a white or green interior. The wood grain remains part of the design, so colour and pattern vary naturally between pieces. An all-white version of the set offers the same two sizes in a painted finish.
In our product photographs, the taller compartment sits below the slim one. That places the larger opening close to the bed, where it can hold a stack of books, while the upper piece provides a second storage area.
Check the Space Beside Your Bed
Before deciding on the height, check the width and depth. Both pieces are 52.5 cm wide and project 34 cm from the wall. Stacking uses more wall height, but the lower piece still needs enough clearance beside the bed.
Open nearby wardrobe doors fully. Check where curtains hang and how much room you have to walk around the bed or change the sheets. A floating nightstand leaves the floor underneath accessible, but its front edge still occupies space.
Painter’s tape helps you test the position. Mark the width on the wall, then use a piece of cardboard to represent the 34 cm depth. This makes the size easier to judge than measurements on a product page.
Start with Your Mattress Height
Position the top of the nightstand you use from bed roughly level with the top of your mattress. This is the same starting point discussed in our guide to small interior changes that make a home feel more considered: bedside furniture should be comfortable to reach, as well as look right.
Measure your own bed. Frame height, mattress thickness and mattress toppers all affect the final position.
If the 24 cm compartment is the lower piece, mark its top surface at your chosen bedside height, then mark its bottom edge 24 cm below. Check that outline while lying down and sitting up. You should be able to reach everyday items comfortably, with room to move beside the furniture.
Use this position to plan the upper piece.
How Far Apart Should the Two Pieces Be?
Our floating nightstand styling guide suggests a gap of around 25–30 cm between the pieces. Treat that as a starting point and adjust it to what you intend to keep on the lower surface.
A phone and a small dish need little headroom. A table lamp may need considerably more. Measure the actual lamp, including the shade, and allow room to reach its switch and move it when cleaning.
With the 24 cm compartment below, a 25–30 cm gap and the 12 cm compartment above, the complete arrangement measures 61–66 cm from bottom to top. The upper piece extends 37–42 cm above the lower nightstand’s top surface.
Tape both outlines onto the wall before drilling. Check the upper piece against your headboard, wall lights and windowsill, and make sure you can sit up without your head or shoulder meeting it.
Plan the charging cable route from the socket at the same time. Leave enough cable to pick up your phone comfortably and keep the plug accessible.
Mounting the Stacked Set
Each nightstand mounts separately using a metal hanging plate and two wall screws. A cardboard drilling template comes with each piece to help mark the fixing positions.
For a stacked set, that means four wall fixing points in total: two for the lower piece and two for the upper. Use the templates to mark each pair, then check that both nightstands will sit level and align with one another.
The wall construction determines which fixings are appropriate. The fixing system needs to support the nightstand’s own weight as well as its contents. Follow the supplied installation instructions and each piece’s 10 kg load limit.
Our guide to floating shelf problems and wall fixings explains why the wall and anchors matter. The same considerations apply to a wall-mounted bedside table.
If You Want a Matching Bedside Pair
For one nightstand on each side of the bed, you can order two Small floating nightstands. Each measures 52.5 × 34 × 12 cm, matching the smaller piece in the stacked set.
The Small model’s metal hanging plate can be installed in either direction, allowing you to hang the nightstand with its flat side uppermost or turn the piece the other way up. Choose the orientation before marking the fixing holes.

Another option is the Brass Collection floating nightstand, available individually or as a set of two. Each measures 45 × 35 × 14.5 cm and has a curved shape with a brass accent. Its narrower width may suit a bedside space where the 52.5 cm box model feels too wide.
You can also use a stacked set on one side and a single nightstand on the other. This is useful when one person needs space for several books and the other mainly uses the surface for a phone.

Choosing Your Floating Nightstand Set of 2
Choose a matching pair when two people need separate bedside surfaces and both sides of the bed have enough room. Choose a stacked set when you want additional storage in one bedside area and have the wall height to accommodate it.
Before ordering, confirm the pieces included, measure their width and depth beside your bed, and mark the proposed heights on the wall. Those checks will tell you more than a room photograph alone.
